What exactly is " Alamo Ba ... ? " This is a short Filipino-Tagalog phrase when translated into English means " Do you know ? Just to give this website an intriguing twist of " The Alamo ! "
According to the 2000 census, San Antonio population was 1,144,646 (9) in the nation. Asian population in San antonio: 17,934 (1.6% of SA'S total population) and the number of Filipinos were 3815 (0.3% of the total Asian Population of San Antonio) and the number of Filipino-Americans today continue to grow.
East meets West ! Asians of different Ethnicities can be seen during the Asian New Year in February and Texas Folklife Festival in June held at The Institute of Texan Cultures. Unfortunately the Filipino Exhibit has been taken off the display floor of the Institute of Texan Cultures s few years ago and there has been some talk about bringing it back. Let's Keep the Bayanihan Spirit going !
The Alamo Asian American Chamber of Commerce ( www.alamo-aacc.org )has played an active role networking in the community and in the far east.
San Antonio has a lot to offer to make it worth your visit. Looking for karaoke or just plain fun under the sun, waterparks, themeparks and golf etc. you name it, we have it. A drive out to the Hill country or an appetite for mouth watering Tex-Mex cuisine, BBQ and Asian cuisines. Don't worry we have Filipino Stores and Restaurants here too. There's always a Pinoy(filipino) somewhere. Besides we are the second largest asian-american subgroup in the United States.

In 2005, The City of San Antonio and it's citizens lend a helping hand to the Hurricane Katrina Victims from New Orleans who were evacuated here and the Alamodome was temporarily home for the NFL New Orleans Saints. Major League Baseball is in the Future for SA. Dallas Cowboys recently signed a 5 year contract to use the Alamodome for their Pre-Season workout.
The Philippine Nurses Association of San Antonio (PNASA)under the leadership of Marietta Dela Cruz, President of PNASA 2005-2007 hosted in June 2006, the Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA) 6th South Central Regional Conference held at the Crowne Plaza Riverwalk Hotel. It was a successfull event! PNA-San Antonio did a great job in being a good host to our guests! Mabuhay San Antonio!
On the Pinoy Alamo Sports and Entertainment Scene:
On April 14, 2007, Philippine Boxing Sensation Manny Pacquiao defeated Mexican Boxer Jorge Solis at The Alamodome here in San Antonio. Many Filipino boxing fans of Pacquiao throughout the US and from Philippines converged here to show their support for him.
Martin Nievera " Mr.Concert King ! " ended his US City Tour June 30, 2006 with his live band here in the Alamo City giving an energizing
performance " Save The Best for Last ! " at The Empire Theatre before heading back to Las Vegas. Nora Aunor (Philippine Actress and Singer), Bernardo Bernardo (Actor and Comedian), Aiza Seguerra (Former Childstar guest of Eat Bulaga and currently a musician performing on her acoustic guitar), Rica Peralejo (Actress and Singer) and The APO Hiking Society have all found their way to entertain the Pinoys here in the Alamo City.
This past summer, June 2,2007 Asia's Queen of Songs " Pilita Corrales " performed live at The World Center, Ingram Square San Antonio, Texas. Also this past July 21st ,The Philippines Wackiest Comedians " The Pork Chop Duo ! " performed live in San Antonio! at the same venue brought to you by RNB Entertainment.

Recently, I was invited to be one of emcees for the Austin Filipino American Association 5th Annual Philippine Festival Celebration at Fiesta Gardens, Austin October 28, 2007. It was a well attended event.
This past March 2008, Melinda Agpauao-Rodriguez PT, DPT was the first Filipino inducted into the San Antonio Woman's Hall of Fame in the Business and Finance Category. A proud Thomasian !
I had the opportunity to meet US Department of Labor Secretary Elaine Chao back in March '08 along with San Antonio Mayor Phil Hardberger and other Asian American leaders during a dinner sponsored by the Alamo Asian American Chamber of Commerce.
San Antonio Texas Villages Foundation Inc. and United Filipino Association will be having a June 14, 2008 Philippine Independence Day Celebration and Miss Philippines Pageant to be held at the Double Tree Hotel. Tickets for this event are currently on sale now.
