Remember the Alamo? Yes it is located right here in downtown San Antonio, Texas. Our population is 1,214,725 as of 7/1/2003 estimate - 8th Largest City in the USA and 2nd largest city in Texas ( source: U.S. Census Bureau ). The Riverwalk ! Missions ! Home of the San Antonio Spurs, NBA Champions 1999,2003,2005 and 2007 ! Military USA ! Rodeo(Feb)! Fiesta(April) ! Seaworld ! Six Flags Fiesta Texas ! Golf ! and many more..... Have you done your part for Census 2010 mail in those surveys in and be counted !
What exactly is " Alamo Ba ... ? " This is a short Filipino-Tagalog phrase when translated into English means " Do you know ? Just to give this website an intriguing twist of " The Alamo ! "
According to the 2000 census, San Antonio population was 1,144,646 (9) in the nation. Asian population in San antonio: 17,934 (1.6% of SA'S total population) and the number of Filipinos were 3815 (0.3% of the total Asian Population of San Antonio) and the number of Filipino-Americans today continue to grow. Recent reports say that San Antonio is now the 7th largest city in the US.
East meets West ! Asians of different Ethnicities can be seen during the Asian Festival in February and Texas Folklife Festival in June held at The UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures. We hope the Philippine Exhibit makes it back to the floor of the ITC.
Filipino heroism during World War II can be located at the Fort Sam Houston Museum in the " Philippine Scout Display Case " enter thru Walters Ave /Gate from S.35 from Austin going towards downtown.
The Alamo Asian American Chamber of Commerce ( www.alamo-aacc.org )has played an active role networking in the community and in the far east.
San Antonio has a lot to offer to make it worth your visit. Looking for karaoke or just plain fun under the sun, waterparks, themeparks and golf etc. you name it, we have it. A drive out to the Hill country or an appetite for mouth watering Tex-Mex cuisine, BBQ and Asian cuisines. Don't worry we have Filipino Stores and Restaurants here too. There's always a Pinoy(filipino) somewhere. Besides we are the second largest asian-american subgroup in the United States.

On April 14, 2007, Philippine Boxing Sensation Manny Pacquiao defeated Mexican Boxer Jorge Solis at The Alamodome here in San Antonio. Many Filipino boxing fans of Pacquiao throughout the US and from Philippines converged here to show their support for him.
March 27, 2010, The New Pork Chop Duo performed live at Mekeni's in Universal City. Congratulations to Romy and his production staff.
Since 2006, Several Well known Filipino performing Artists have been down here to entertain us such as Martin Nievera, Nora Aunor, Bernardo Bernardo, Aiza Seguerra, Pilita Corales, The Original Pork Chop Duo, Marco Sison in Summer '08 and just recently " PRIMO " in Feb. 2009.
Eddie Mesa and Rosemary Gil have been frequent visitors to the Alamo City. There are plans of a Father and Son concert Eddie Mesa and Michael De Mesa here in San Antonio '10.
The Movie " Ploning " staring Judy Ann Santos was shown here San Antonio. All Cable and Digital Satelite Co. now carry Filipino programming. So you won't miss your favorite game show or tele-serye.
Bernardo Bernardo( Filipino Comedian and Stage/Movie Actor )was back in San Antonio with a live performance at Filipino Express last July 25, 2009
The Angelos was here this past Sept 11, 2009 with a successful live performance at Filipino Expresss.
Looking for Fil-Am resto and stores.We have several in town, Lily's, Pearl of the Orient, Sari-Sari, Asian Wootz Cafe, Orient Spice Cafe, Rice, Filipino Express, Uptown Deli, Tabares Phil. Mkt and Dolce Manila and pretty soon a locally based Fil-Am News magazine.
In March 2008, Melinda Agpauao-Rodriguez PT, DPT was the first Filipina inducted into the San Antonio Woman's Hall of Fame in the Business and Finance Category. A proud Thomasian ! and is also the current President 2009-2011 of the Alamo Asian American Chamber of Commerce. www.alamo-aacc.org New members are welcomed !
In 2009 SA Politics, Congratulations to Elisa Chan who won her seat in city council for Distirct 9 and to Julian Castro who also won his bid as Mayor for San Antonio.
